The Port has been a family owned and operated marina since 1978 when Ralph & Mary Swanson first purchased part of the complex referred to “Kimberling Marina.”  Kimberling Marina refers to the docks located in Schooner Creek where we store many of the larger boats and consisted of a little more than 100 wet slips in 1978.  Three years after purchasing Kimberling Marina, the Swanson family purchased Highway 13 Boat Dock which included the smaller wet slips and a dry stack facility, thus the beginning of Kimberling Marina & 13 Dock, Inc. 

In 1988, the Port branched out into the camping business by leasing from the Corps the eastern portion of the campground containing approximately 190 acres.  That area was expanded by another 190 acres after the Corps decided to turn over the rest of the campground and create the current lease area that we have today. 

In 1994, Randy & Kelly Swanson purchased the gas dock from Ralph & Mary to help lessen the burden of running the marina.  Kelly took a leave of absence from the insurance agency that she managed (a leave that has yet to end!) to help manage the day-to-day activities of the fuel dock.  Under her management, the gas dock grew significantly selling fuel, clothing, and boat rentals at unprecedented levels.

The Swanson family continued to run Port of Kimberling Marina & Campground until 2004.  During that time, the marina had grown to just over 750 wet slips and 240 dry stack slips.  In 2004, Randy & Kelly Swanson bought out the rest of the family in Port of Kimberling Marina.  Since then, Randy and Kelly have continued to grow the Port of Kimberling to the more than 1300 slips that it currently has in both wet slips and dry stack. 

Today, Port of Kimberling offers storage for more than 1400 boats.  Our love for boating has been an important part of maximizing our customers boating experience for nearly 33 years.  We offer more services and amenities than any other marina on the lake including ski boat rentals, wave runner rentals, pontoon rentals, houseboat rentals, water sports rentals and sales, Sea Tow, fuel dock, campground and cabins, floating café, and boat sales.  Check out our Related Services Page to find out more about all of these services.
